A day in the life of a public health physician

Presenters:

What role can physicians play in public health? How do physicians specialize in public health? These public health specialists use population health knowledge and skills to play leading and collaborative roles to maintain and improve communities’ health and well-being. Through interdisciplinary and intersectoral partnerships, they measure populations’ health needs and develop strategies to improve health and well-being. Dr. Shovita Padhi, Medical Health Officer and Medical Director at Fraser health will describe a typical day on the job, and give you a sense of what you can expect in a public health physician career.

Biography

Dr. Shovita Padhi

Dr. Shovita Padhi is a Medical Health Officer with Fraser Health and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Population and Public Health, in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Her primary areas of work include early childhood development and immunizations with a key focus on reducing health inequities in these areas.
