Newfoundland and Labrador
In the summer of 2017, the government of Newfoundland and Labrador conducted public and stakeholder engagement. That fall, it released its initial cannabis plans and authorized Newfoundland and Labrador Cannabis (NLC) to control the sale and distribution of recreational cannabis through private retail stores. An Act to Amend the Liquor Corporation Act received royal assent in December 2017. In February 2018, NLC released a request for proposals for licensed cannabis retailers and launched an online cannabis e-commerce site with plans to begin sales in July 2018.
