Public health research in an academic setting

Presenters:

  • Elaine Hyshka, University of Alberta

A career in public health can take you anywhere. Dr. Hyshka’s path started with an undergraduate lecture on illicit drug policy and led to a faculty appointment conducting applied health services and policy research at the University of Alberta’s School of Public Health. In this webinar, Dr. Hyshka will overview her own career trajectory, how she developed a research interest in substance misuse, and a snapshot of her day-to-day activities. A career in public health research in an academic setting might not be what you expect. Dr. Hyshka will highlight the highs and lows of her life as a researcher and will offer career-related advice for students and early career researchers. If you are undertaking public health research or are considering a career in academia, you won’t want to miss out. View the webinar recording below and consult the presentation slides.
