In July 2017, the government of Ontario conducted a survey among Ontarians to determine how to regulate cannabis.The Cannabis, Smoke-Free Ontario and Road Safety Amendment Act was introduced in November 2017 and assented to in December 2017. In September 2018 Ontario introduced legislation to move forward with private cannabis retail stores.
