Stop Smoking: A Smoking Cessation Resource for Those Who Work with Women
Stop Smoking - A Cessation Resource for Those Who Work With Women is a resource to equip health professionals with the knowledge and tools to support women in their efforts to quit smoking.
Based on two existing cessation resources, this newly updated and revised resource can be used in both a group program and a one-to-one cessation setting.
Stop Smoking - A Cessation Resource for Those Who Work With Women is organized in three sections:
- Section 1: About Women and Smoking
- Section 2: A Facilitator’s Guide for a Group Program
- Section 3: One-on-One Smoking Cessation Intervention
The resource includes a facilitator’s guide for a group program that is presented in 11 sessions focusing on such issues as healthy weights, self-esteem, planning to quit, triggers and support. There is also a section on one-to-one smoking cessation interventions that include an approach to counseling based on motivational interviewing techniques, the Stages of Change Model, and using the 4As - Ask, Advise, Assist, Arrange. A wide variety of handouts are included.
